The Hockey Equality Scholarship is an aid to help student-athletes of BIPOC background, in the Ontario hockey system, attain their athletic and academic goals by lowering financial barriers for education and elite hockey training. It is a one-year, full academic scholarship funded by both the NHL (50%) and Blyth Academy (50%) and facilitated by Hockey Equality. Through the scholarship, students-athletes receive Blyth Academy’s private education with access to small class sizes and one-on-one teacher support while also taking part in the campus’ daily advanced hockey training at The Scotiabank Pond with elite hockey coaches. Students also receive a custom hockey fitness training program in the campus’ on-site fitness facility and the campus meal plan, providing them with fresh and healthy snacks and lunches on-campus, every day.
