THE ACCOUNTABILITY PROJECT

As parents, community members, and community leaders we have a responsibility to ensure each child and family is safe from racism and discrimination and has equitable opportunities to thrive in hockey and in life.

Anti-racism work is something that has to be attended to in an ongoing way. In order to support you in this work we are giving opportunity for guidance and recommendations in addressing discrimination whether it be before and incidence or after.

As a third party organization we are able to maintain trustworthy relationships with players, teams and organization as we are not specifically affiliated with any Hockey associations and can work within all network advocating for players, teams and families. Accountability, integrity and honesty is at the forefront of all our work.

As we work together in this cause we hope to see significant decrease in reported incidence and address every situation with understanding of both parties. Pathways for victims and offenders and their families so we can continue to educate and support them in this process.

OBJECTIVES

  • To provide all athletes, coaches, officials, spectators, members of the organization, and venue employees, with the right to an environment free of racial discrimination, discrimination (including sexual), harassment & bias (implicit/explicit)
  • To address teams with incidences of racism and discrimination giving them guidance support and education that combats these issues.
  • To give third party advocacy to players and their families
  • To ensure equity and equality are at the forefront of every event hosted by the organization.
  • To give offenders and families a means towards reformation and absolution.
